셀 카스테야는 파리에서 활동하는 아르헨티나 출신의 일러스트레이터입니다. 부에노스아이레스에서 태어나 2018년 프랑스로 이주한 그녀는 일러스트레이션, 텍스타일 아트, 그리고 창작 교육의 경계를 넘나들며 작업을 이어가고 있습니다. 커뮤니케이션과 광고 분야에서의 배경을 바탕으로 유럽 이주 이후 본격적으로 예술 활동에 전념하게 되었으며, 드로잉과 페인팅, 자수를 아우르는 다양한 매체를 통해 자신만의 작업 세계를 구축하고 있습니다. 현재는 프린트, 스테이셔너리, 폰 케이스 등 다양한 제품 형태로 작업을 확장하고 있으며, 자수 워크숍 ‘Bordatutti’ 운영을 통해 누구나 창작의 즐거움을 경험할 수 있는 환경을 만들어가고 있습니다. 셀 카스테야의 작업은 일상의 사소한 순간과 감정을 따뜻하고 섬세한 시선으로 포착하며, 이를 부드러운 색감과 유기적인 선으로 풀어냅니다. 자수와 드로잉이 자연스럽게 교차하는 화면 속에서는 손의 흔적과 시간의 축적이 고스란히 드러나며, 디지털 환경과 대비되는 느리고 촉각적인 감각을 환기시킵니다. 단순한 형태와 절제된 구성 속에서도 감정의 여백이 남겨져 있어, 감상자는 각자의 경험을 투영하며 이미지를 확장해 나가게 됩니다. 이러한 요소들은 그녀의 작업에 잔잔한 울림과 친밀한 온도를 부여하며, 평범한 일상이 지닌 아름다움을 다시금 바라보게 만들어 줍니다. Cel Castella is an Argentine illustrator based in Paris. Born in Buenos Aires and having moved to France in 2018, she works across the boundaries of illustration, textile art, and creative education. With a background in communications and advertising, she fully dedicated herself to artistic practice after relocating to Europe, building her own body of work through a range of media, including drawing, painting, and embroidery. Her work now extends into various product formats such as prints, stationery, and phone cases, while she also runs the embroidery workshop “Bordatutti,” creating an environment where anyone can experience the joy of making. Cel Castellá’s work captures the subtle moments and emotions of everyday life through a warm and delicate perspective, expressed with soft color palettes and organic lines. Within her compositions, where embroidery and drawing naturally intersect, traces of the hand and the accumulation of time are vividly revealed, evoking a slow, tactile sensibility that contrasts with the digital environment.
